First Water Lily of spring!

The first Water Lily of spring has bloomed! It's Barbara Dobbins, as always! She always blooms first (and sometimes last!)

Isn't she lovely?

See you next time!

  1. Yes indeed, she is very lovely!
I'm not lucky at all with water lilies in my little pond. So I gave up on that. What is your secret?

    1. Hello Sigrid! Water lilies in general are not fussy plants,I have 20 or so varieties and only failed to grow the famous white Gonnere water lily, since its parentage is scandinavian water lily especies and never did well in this hot climate. I don't know why your water lilies never thrived , many water lilies are native to Europe climate should not be a problem..maybe not enough sun or not enough space ¿do you remember the varieties you used to grow?

  2. That is one gorgeous flower! I do wish I could have a little pond and water lilies but I suppose the raccoons would make a mess of it.

    1. I don't have raccoons here only birds that eat my fish, I have to protect then using a fishing line setup. I guess raccoons would visit your pond to eat the fish.
