In Praise of Roses

In this entry I want to pay homage to the Rose, the Queen of Flowers, there is no finer botanical royalty.


The Rose

The lily has a smooth stalk,
Will never hurt your hand;
But the rose upon her brier

  1. I visited The Huntington's rose garden today. You'd love it! If you ever make it to Southern California in the spring or summer, you must visit it.

  2. Kris, I was watching that Rose Garden in YouTube videos and looks wonderful! Rose heaven, I'd hyperventilate in that garden! Have a great weekend!

  3. I really can understand your love for roses, MDN!
    I myself ordered two new roses. I hardly can't wait to plant them in my garden. Shall I tell you there names? It's Madame Hardy and William Shakespeare 2000. Do you know them?

    1. Sigrid, Roses are really the queens of the flower world, I love them even when they don't like much my climate. I didn't know Madame Hardy, it looks very beautiful but William Shakespeare 2000 is one I plan to buy since it was included in the catalog of the nursery where I bought 5 Austins in february, they will bring new roses in winter.. I can't wait!
