Summer is here

Summer begins today in the southern hemisphere... it's definitely not my favorite season: Summer here can be brutal, in the hottest months of the year temperatures can rise to 45 C (113 f) and occasionally even more, rain is ample but evaporates quickly under the scorching sun and wind does not seem to bring relief. Nevertheless some plants thrive in these conditions....

Water lilies are the soul of the summer in my garden.

Blushing bride ...breathtakingly beautiful! one of my favorite lilies.

Blue star

I think this lily is Carnea

Golden west, a tropical lily

Lindsey Woods

Red Start with dragonfly

Red star again

Sasaki Pink

Hydrangeas..I love them so much! I want more hydrangeas in my life/garden

The first Agapanthus of the year

Fuchsias are blooming

Not many roses lately.. heat takes a toll on them... on contrary hibiscus love the heat

Mirabilis Jalapa.. cute but very invasive!

The lotus are almost there...

See you next time!

  1. I can sympathize, MDN - our summers are brutal too, although not quite as hot and definitely not wet. I'd love to grow water lilies but, with water in increasingly short supply here, I just can't justify it. That blue star lily is phenomenal!

  2. Your water lilies are exquisite especially that first one. Would love to see a photo of your entire pond; is it quite large? Must be, for all those lilies.

I feel the same way about summer...good thing there is more than one season!

    1. Water lilies are wonderful plants, I love them madly! My pond isn't really a pond but a fiberglass swiming pool(6 x 3 x 1.50 m) that feel into disuse and I decided to put fish in it and then water lilies. Wish you a merry christmas and happy new year!

  3. ♥ Your water lilies are gorgeous, as are your hydrangeas and hibiscuses. The summer there sounds indeed ruthless, but you have very many spectacular plants that thrive nevertheless. ♥ Now I wish you and yours a wonderful Christmas! ♥

  6. Oh, so many of my favourite flowers! Water lilies are high on my wish list - I just need to sort out a pond first but eventually I will have one, a small one :-)
Apart from that we have many plants in common even though we live on opposite side of the world!
