Sunny day - Rainy day

Today is a rainy day but I am not complaining about it for there were sunny skies for days lately, temperatures rocketed past 35C (95F) and my sprinkler was running nonstop to keep the green green (I rarely need to water from March to November because rain is ample and temperature still not scorching hot.) Watering can be exhausting...

Sunny day: Hibiscus, they are tough plants and that make them very popular in local gardens

One of the cacti of my small collection bloomed, it's so cute!

Water lilies.

Plumbago, I love blue flowers!

Bougainvillea, a real monster that can take over everything if left unchecked and it blooms almost year round.

Canna lily

And Roses of course, Queens of the flowers! Couldn't take many pictures in the morning and by the afternoon they looked droopy and thirsty

Rainy day: I love the sight of raindrops on flowers: it's magic!

Canna lily

Water lilies

Roses after the rain

A blue hydrangea amidst the pink ones.. the PH of the soil must be crazy

And the much maligned Jacarandas, as purple as ever.

See you next time!

  1. Beautiful as your roses and other flowers are, it's always the water lilies that stop me in my tracks. That purple water lily (5th photo) looks like a jewel!

    1. The water lilies are fantastic and they thrive in the hottest months! There are many varieties that haven't bloomed yet, you'll see them! :)

  2. What amazing beauties! Already the hibiscuses would have been enough to charm everyone, but then those roses and the waterlilies in colours I have never seen before!
Haha, we here would love to have monsters that bloom almost year round, especially if they look like bougainvilleas... :)
    Happy gardening! ♥

    1. Sara, water liies are the soul of summer to me, they don't mind the harsh sun and insane temperatures, they just bloom and bloom! what's the color of the water lilies in Finland? I remember a white one in your blog.

    2. Among the native ones, I have only seen white ones. A red form exists, but it's very rare... and protected. There are of course some cultivars grown in ponds, but they are not very common. Your garden is a paradise. :)

  4. I love rain drops on the flowers as well, MDN. But they look so unhappy! The sunny day is joyful, the plants look wonderful. I love your water lilies and hibiscus, I only saw hibiscus in Dominican republic, they grow there as hedges.

    1. Nadezda, sunny days are nice but here during the hottest months the sun is harsh and scorching hot, roses look nice for a few hours in the morning but by the afternoom they are shrivelled so I cut them and put them in vases before the sun burns them. Hibiscus are very common garden plants here, they grow untroubled as hedge, espaliered against walls, as trees.. honestly I don't like them , I don't like tropical plants but I plant them in places where all plants I like fail.

  5. When I feel like sommer during our German winter I just need to visit your blog. January and February are the worst months here by the way. Your garden looks very colourful due to the hot weather.
I'm a little bit jealous that plants which you can only get here as a indoor plant grow in Argentina outside.
Have a great weekend in your garden!

    1. Sigrid, I'm jealous of what gardeners in colder climates can grow! I can't have tulips, peonies and lupines here...
